A Hybrid Approach for an Efficient Estimation and Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Fast Dynamics and Practically Unavailable Measurements

This paper presents an interesting hybrid solution to a challenging estimation and control problem of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). Apart from inherently nonlinear nature PMSM, which makes this particularly challenging, is unavailability measurements, rotor position, speed. In effort efficiently cope with such issues along random noise environment, Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) chosen estimate states PMSM dynamic system Model Predictive Control (MPC) utilized state space vector in Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). Additionally, MPC has also been implemented combination Extended (EKF) Sliding Mode (SMC), order vigorously compare these approaches terms accuracy, robustness, transient response. The MPC-UKF, that never before, outperforms other two by dealing high nonlinearities, accurately estimating while measurements were practically unavailable, coping fast dynamics PMSM.
